Meet Sofi

This work has always felt like a natural extension of how I see people, with curiosity, respect, and belief in their ability to grow.

Supporting children and families has always felt like second nature to me. Early in my career, I saw how much difference consistency, care, and understanding could make in a young person’s life and that belief has guided my work ever since.

I spent over 15 years in child protection, working with children and young people living with the impacts of developmental trauma. Over time, I moved into leadership as a Practice Lead, training and supporting teams of carers and parents to respond therapeutically to children with complex needs and big feelings.

Along the way, I became a qualified Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor, undertaking further study to specialise in the areas of Child Development and Effective parenting, Family Therapy, and Play Therapy. These studies deepened my understanding of how to support not just children, but the family systems around them.

That’s where Shared Ground began, a counselling and family support practice for families in the Barossa, Gawler, and Adelaide:

Shared represents connection and co-regulation, the understanding that when life feels overwhelming, grounding happens in connection. It’s about offering the care, steadiness, and practical support someone needs until they feel ready to continue on their own.

Ground represents steadiness and awareness, the ability to stay present and respond with intention rather than react from overwhelm. It’s about reconnecting with the knowledge, values, and skills already within each person, and finding confidence in using them when life feels uncertain.
